Holiday The Hustla
Holiday The Hustla

Emerging from the soulful city of Memphis, TN, comes this musically inclined emcee, Holiday the Hustla. Born and raised in the legendary town of Orange Mound, Holiday admits to his music being influenced by the likes of DJ Squeaky and Eightball and MJG. Nicknamed Holiday by a childhood friend, the alias of “Penny” was taken on to pay homage to his city. Holiday proclaims, “I remember watching Penny put on for the city and feeling proud. I’m just trying to return the feeling through this music..”

Before trying a shot at rap, Holiday first pursued a career in artist management. But searching for the right artists and music obligations called for a change of plans. Brother and Club Promoter, D-Rich, felt that Holiday knew the industry well enough to be a successful artist in it. After meeting with their cousin, Scott Richmond, and with the addition of their last brother, Caseno Money, the family formed the independent label, Makin Easy Money Entertainment.

In the summer of 2007, M.E.M. Entertainment made it’s debut with the punchline friendly mixtape,”LOST”. With a street team on hand and The Volunteers backing, the response from the streets and the critics was more than positive. This would lead to the other mixtapes,”I Am Legend” and “Dead Presidents”, solidifying Holiday as one of Memphis’ most prominent artists. After the goal of being established was met, the family decided to shut down the label in pursuit of better management for the artists.

Another name ringing bells throughout Memphis at the time was five-star producer and hit maker, ADG. After meeting through mutual friend and business partner, Camo, the team all decided to invest in a studio together. Seeing as the movement had a new direction, Holiday felt the movement needed a name as well. He explains, “I just thought we needed something for people to recognize us for. I plotted on it for a moment…and after a conference with Mary, Flight Club was the only thing that seemed fit. Flight Club’s not a label or rap group, it’s our movement.” In July of 2010, the first release to feature the Flight Club was the stoner-friendly mixtape, “The Color Purple”. Following that, “Ready 2 Fly”, “ADG’s Live In HD” and a host of other projects from Flight Club artists were released.

With a stronger movement and bigger goals to accomplish, Holiday joined 2 Suave Entertainment in September of 2011. Created and owned by longtime friend, J. Suave, the merging of Flight Club and 2 Suave Entertainment was inevitable. The first release under the label was the critically acclaimed mixtape, “Higher Learning”. Holiday The’ Hustla’s career began to flourish with the release of this mixtape movie. He was featured in magazines, blog sites, and his fan base grew beyond the United States with his single “My Favorite” feat. Zed Zilla of CMG spinning in night clubs in Okinawa, Japan. Holiday continued to produce an array of hit singles that sparked the attention of the industry even more. Building a solid foundation and chemistry with the new label, it was vital that the next project was packed with music catered to his most dedicated support system, “Stoner Nation”! October 31, 2012, 2 Suave Entertainment released Holiday’s 2nd Mixtape Movie “Silence of the Grams”. The response was just as expected. There was a heavy buzz in the streets as well as the Internet. Holiday was nominated for “Lyricist of the Year” & “Impact Artist of the Year” with the prestigious 2013 Knocdown/SCM Awards and he assisted in carrying his label, 2 Suave Entertainment, to be crowned “Record Label of the Year”.

Holiday The’ Hustla is currently filming his first movie “Dude, Where’s My Gar?” starring himself, Memphis, TN Top 5 recording artist “Miscellaneous”, and “The Macguyver of Pot” Master Bong, set to be released Summer 2014. The origin of this movie stemmed from the stoner friendly mixtape “Dude, Where’s My Gar?” featuring Holiday & Miscellaneous. This particular mixtape was featured on 30 websites globally, and the single “Airplanes” was added in full rotation in five major radio stations in five cities and counting. Holiday The’ Hustla’s unique sound was trending, and the label thought that this was a perfect time to release his latest mixtape movie, “Red Eye”! This turned out to be a brilliant executive decision. 2 Suave Ent. announced that Red Eye was set to be released July 4, 2013. Holiday, also CEO of Flight Club Music Group, made an executive decision of his own declaring that Flight Club would be releasing their first compilation mixtape “Independence Day” July 4, 2013 as well. Both projects were successful, but “Red Eye” flourished with over 10,000 legitimate downloads globally. With a skill set of elite rhymes & delivery, a talented team, and a powerful label behind him, the sky seems to be the limit for Holiday the Hustla.
